Aquarden was founded in 2005 inspired by the results of an EU-funded research project demonstrating the remarkable performance of SuperCritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) for wastewater treatment. Since then Aquarden has progressed continuously towards commercializing its SCWO system – SuperOx®. In 2016 Aquarden was rewarded the European Business Award for the Environment in Denmark for its significant contribution to sustainable development and innovation. In 2023 our SuperOx® technology was awarded the EUROPYRO France Innovation Prize by the French Association of Pryotechnics.
Today, Aquarden uses its expert wastewater knowledge to deliver cleantech SCWO solutions for solving the toughest wastewater challenges. We provide consultancy and onsite turnkey systems to meet our customers’ specific needs and requirements.
World-class production and research facilities
Aquarden is headquartered in the town of Skævinge just north of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Our factory building accommodates a growing number of projects and development activities focused on SCWO. It includes production machinery and a well-equipped chemical laboratory. Our R&D facilities are closely integrated in all areas of the company as we continue to optimize and scale-up our SCWO technology.

Aquarden comes from the Latin words aqua and ardens. Aqua means water, while ardens means burning, passion, and brilliance. Thus Aquarden represents the principles of our technology – water burning – and our passion for water. The ability to burn organic pollutants in water is what makes our technology so unique.
